Chavelha Fair 2026 (Feira da Chavelha X)

The 10th Chavelha Fair (Feira da Chavelha X) takes place in Peraboa from 26–28 June 2026, celebrating the shepherding traditions and rural heritage of the region. The programme includes traditional drumming groups, live music, dancing, concerts, the unique midnight gathering and parade of shepherds’ bells (chocalhos, campainhas and chavelhas), as well as performances by NemFaneMfum and the female academic music group As Moçoilas from the University of Beira Interior. Visitors can also take part in the popular Shepherds’ Paths Walk, visit the Cheese Museum, and enjoy local food, crafts and family-friendly entertainment throughout the weekend. With free admission, the fair offers a great opportunity to experience one of the most distinctive rural traditions in the Covilhã area.
